Warrior Size Guides For Ice Hockey Players & Goalies

Want to get the perfect fit with all your Warrior ice hockey gear? We’ve got you covered.

Check out all the sizing charts and fitting advice you need to keep you comfortable and protected in your Warrior kit.

Warrior Ice Hockey Sticks

Choosing an ice hockey stick from Warrior means you really can have it all. Made from top-spec materials and coming in a range of kick points and flexes, it’s no wonder that Warrior sticks are a favourite amongst players.

Measuring For Warrior Ice Hockey Sticks

When finding the perfect-sized ice hockey stick for you, getting the right shaft is crucial! You’ll find sizes for Youth, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior players that you can choose from.

Generally, with your Warrior stick, you want it to reach the top of your nose when the blade’s toe is on the floor.

Keep in mind though, these measurements in the size chart below are just a rough guide. Your personal preference and playstyle will have a big impact on finding the perfect Warrior stick for you.

If you can’t find a stick that has the ideal length, don’t worry! You have options: you can chop your stick down or add an extension to perfect the size. Just remember though, if you chop it down, you’ll get less flex, and if you add an extension, you’ll increase the flex.

Looking for more pro advice to find the stick of your dreams? Check out our guide to choosing the right ice hockey stick — it’s packed with expert insight and handy tips.

Warrior Stick Size Chart

To find the best stick length and flex for your height and weight, check out this handy sizing chart below. But remember, it's always a good idea to swing by our shop in Coventry and try out a range of Warrior ice hockey sticks, as your playstyle and preference might suit a different option.

As a general rule with Warrior sticks, the ones with mid- to high kick points are fantastic for loading and releasing energy, making them perfect for powerful shots and passes.

For example, the Warrior Alpha is a mid-kick point stick that feels super lightweight and well-balanced, allowing you to shoot better and longer. Players rave about the quick shot release in this line, but the Alpha also delivers some serious power. It's the ideal stick for players who love unleashing high-powered slap shots.

If low-kick point sticks with an explosive release are more your style, the Warrior Covert is the one for you.

Warrior Shoulder Pads

Whether you’re a nimble forward or a defenseman that lives for intense puck battles, Warrior have got your back with a range of shoulder pads tailored to your position and playing style.

Measuring For Warrior Ice Hockey Shoulder Pads

To find out the perfect size for your shoulder pads, all you need is a measuring tape. Wrap it around the widest part of your chest, right under your arms, for an accurate measurement.

Once you’ve measured your chest and you know your height, you can find your ideal Warrior shoulder pad size using the chart below. If you're in between sizes, don't worry! Simply size up or down, depending on your preference. Want a beefier fit with extra coverage? Go for a larger size. Prefer a sleek and agile look? Size down for that low-profile feel.

When trying on shoulder pads, make sure your shoulders fit nicely within the shoulder caps. You want a good fit that doesn't restrict your movement or interfere with your elbow pads, but it shouldn’t be too loose either!

Our Coventry shop has a brilliant range of Warrior shoulder pads available for you to try on. Pop along to take a look at the range and find the right gear to keep you protected out on the ice!

Warrior Elbow Pads

When it comes to protecting your elbows and performing at your peak out on the ice, Warrior elbow pads are the way to go. But to stay fully protected, they need to fit just right!

Measuring For Warrior Ice Hockey Elbow Pads

Getting your measurement for your elbow pad couldn’t be simpler. Just straighten your arm out in front of you, then measure from the middle of your bicep down to the centre of your forearm, about where your glove's cuff sits.

Once you've got that measurement and you know your height, check the chart below to find your perfect elbow pad size. If you're in between sizes, go for a larger size for more coverage and protection. But if you prefer a sleek and snug fit, size down for that anatomical, agile feel.

Your playstyle and personal preferences will also play a role in choosing the right elbow pad size, so come and visit our Coventry shop and try on a few different sizes and models from Warrior!

When you try your elbow pads on, your elbows should rest comfortably in the elbow cups. The straps should feel snug but not too tight — you still need to be able to move freely on the ice! Check how your elbow pads fit with your other protective gear, too: if you see big gaps between your elbow pads and shoulder pads and shoulder pads/gloves, you may need to size up.

Warrior Ice Hockey Gloves

When you’re gearing up for the intense world of ice hockey, you really cannot compromise on protection for your hands. Warrior has a massive range of ice hockey gloves suited to every player — whether you’re a lightning-fast forward or a rock-solid defenseman, you’ll find your perfect gloves to dominate the game!

Measuring For Warrior Gloves

With just a measuring tape and some know-how, you can easily find your size for your next Warrior ice hockey gloves.

Take your measuring tape, start at the base of your middle finger and measure all the way up to the crease of your elbow. That’s it!

If you’re ready to pick up your next pair of Warrior gloves online, we’ve got you covered with all the size charts and advice you need to find the right size yourself. But if you want expert guidance or personalised fitting advice, pop down to our shop in Coventry, where you can chat with our team and try on a range of Warrior gloves to keep you comfortable and protected.

There are three different fit profiles that you can go for with ice hockey gloves: 4-roll, anatomical and tapered.

  • For a roomier fit and less resistance, go for a traditional, 4-roll glove like the Warrior Alpha FR2 Pro.
  • If you prefer a snug fit around your hands and fingers with a smaller range of movement, an anatomical glove will give you that secure, close-to-the-hand feel.
  • Players that want an anatomical fit around the hand and fingers but more room around the cuff should go for a tapered fit like the Warrior Covert QR5 40 gloves.

When you’re trying on ice hockey gloves, make sure that the cuff covers your forearm up to your elbow pad. Your fingers also don’t want to extend past the protective surface on top of the glove — or you’ll find out the hard way how much a stray puck to the finger can hurt!

Warrior Ice Hockey Helmets

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, a senior or a tyke — you’ve got to keep your dome protected out on the ice. Warrior has got you covered with a great range of ice hockey helmets that can keep your most precious asset protected out on the ice.

Measuring For Warrior Ice Hockey Helmets

To find the perfect size for your new Warrior helmet, grab a measuring tape and place it around your head at the widest point — normally about 1-2 fingers above your eyebrows. Use that with the chart below to find your Warrior helmet size, and you’ll soon be dominating on the ice with a helmet that fits like a dream.

The thing about ice hockey helmets is that different brands and models will fit various head shapes differently. Whether you're on a tight budget, have specific preferences, or play like a pro, the most important thing is finding a helmet that fits your head like a glove.

It doesn’t matter how advanced or expensive a helmet is; if it doesn’t fit your head shape perfectly, it won’t keep your lid safe from crashes and scuffles out on the ice.

If you want to double-check before investing in your safety, swing by our shop in Coventry where our experts can help you find the perfect helmet for you.

When you’re trying on helmets, start by opening up the adjustable setting to the largest size. Then, position the helmet to sit about one finger-width above your eyebrows. Give that adjuster a gentle tighten until the helmet feels snug but not like a headache.

Warrior Base Layers For Ice Hockey

It’s cold out there on the ice, but Warrior’s base layers can help you stay cosy and comfortable during your game.

Measuring For Warrior Base Layers

Most base layers usually follow your normal clothing size, but if you want that fit to be spot-on, just measure your waist and chest in inches and check them against the size chart below.

From compression layers to all-in-one thermals, there are loads of options for choosing your base layers, all with a different fit. Find your preference and try a range of different sizes by visiting us in-store at Willies in Coventry. Whether you go for compression base layers or a more loosely-fitting garment, your base layers should fit snugly but not uncomfortably tight and shouldn’t restrict your movement.

Your base layers can come in three different fit profiles, which is totally dependent on what you find most comfortable.

  • Fitted base layers are usually compression-style tops and bottoms, which fit snugly against the body with no extra fabric.
  • Athletic base layers will skim the chest, waist and hips to allow for your full range of motion but won’t feel tight.
  • Relaxed-fit base laters will drap loosely from the chest, waist and hips, with generous cuts of fabric giving you maximum comfort and an easy range of motion.

The best way to figure out your preferred base layer style is to swing by our Willies shop in Coventry — we’ll help you find out what’s most comfortable for you and what works best with your current gear.

Warrior Goalie Sticks

Goalies, if you want a stick that lightweight, comfy, and can handle the action in the crease, Warrior has just what you need. Their range of sticks is trusted by goalies up and down the leagues, and it’s not hard to see why.

Measuring For Ice Hockey Goalie Sticks From Warrior

Picking the right goalie stick basically boils down to your own unique style in the crease, no matter what brand you decide to go for. Here’s a general guide to finding the right size for your unique preference:

  1. Get your goalie skates laced up.

  2. Drop into your stance with your knees bent, hands out front, and your stick out there too.

  3. Check your blocker and paddle. If your blocker overlaps the outside edge of your leg pad, it means your paddle is too shoot, and you’ll miss out on some net protection.

If there’s a gap between your leg pad and blocker, then your paddle is too long, and you’ll leave a hole in your defence.

The sweet spot is where your blocker is parallel to your leg pad, and you've got no gaps in your defence. That's when you know your paddle length is just right.

  4. You should also look at the top of your goalie stick. If it’s the right size, it shouldn’t lift off the ice when you’re in your goalie stance.

Warrior Goalie Masks

No matter how you play in the crease, Warrior has got you covered with their brilliant range of goalie masks to keep you safe and comfortable!

Measuring For Goalie Masks From Warrior

Getting your perfect goalie mask size is a breeze. Just grab a measuring tape, wrap it around your head at the widest spot (usually 1-2 fingers above your eyebrows), and jot down that number.

When it comes to your goalie mask, the number one thing that matters is how well it fits your head shape. If it doesn’t sit just right, it won’t protect you when you need it most! If you want the help of experts to make sure your lid is protected, pop into our shop in Coventry, and we’ll sort you out with a goalie mask that matches your budget, style, and of course, your head size.

Don’t forget to bring your chest protector and throat guard along with you when you’re trying on masks! We want to make sure that your new mask plays nice with the rest of your gear to keep you safe and comfortable in the crease.

Warrior Goalie Chest Protectors

Looking for your next chest protector? Warrior has the perfect chesty to match your game, regardless of whether you’re all about stonewalling shots or showing off some athletic moves in the crease.

Measuring For Warrior Goalie Chest Protectors

Your chest protector is a vital piece of gear, and it’s got to fit you just right. Too small, and you’ll end up with gaps in your protection; too big, and it’s going to mess with your ability to move around and defend the net.

Most chest protectors, including Warrior’s range, are sized based on your arm span, so you just need to measure from fingertip to fingertip with your arms stretched out to the sides of you.

If you’re in between sizes for your chest protector, you can either size down for a sleek, anatomical profile or size up for extra bulk to block the net.

Your chesty covers some important areas, so you need to try on a few different sizes and models to get that perfect fit for you and your style. We’ve got a massive range of Warrior chest protectors in stock at our Coventry shop, and our resident goalie expert Jonathan is on-hand to help you out with the right fit.

When you pop by, remember to bring along your goalie mask, neck guard, and shorts/pants. That way, you can check to see if your new chest protector gets along with your other gear and doesn’t leave any gaps in protection.

There are a few pro tips to keep in mind when you’re trying on a new Warrior chest protector:

  • The pad by the neck should sit a few inches below your neck; it's not supposed to be a neck guard! For extra safety, we recommend wearing a goalie throat guard underneath your chest protector to cover your neck and clavicle.
  • Your shoulders should fit comfortably in those shoulder caps, and the chesty should sit nice and square on your shoulders.
  • The chest and belly pad should reach down to your beltline. Whether you wear the chest protector inside or outside your pants, bring them along to see how everything works together when you get in and out of your stance.
  • Don't forget your elbows! They should fit neatly in the elbow pads, and the arm pads should finish about an inch above your wrist — just where you'd wear a wristwatch.

Warrior Goalie Catchers & Blockers

Your blocker and catch glove are crucial to your performance in the crease. That’s where Warrior comes in, with a range of top-quality catchers and blockers to help you make those saves every time!

Measuring For Warrior Goalie Catch Gloves & Blockers

Figuring out the size of your catchers and blockers is easy. Just grab a tape measure and measure from the tip of your index finger down to the heel of your palm.

Your blocker affects everything from your balance and how you hold your stick to moving about in the crease. Your catcher is just as important, so nailing that perfect fit is crucial. Swing by our shop at Willies in Coventry to try a few different sizes and models on, so you can find the one that fits you and your playstyle like, well… a glove!

If you’re totally new to goaltending in ice hockey, you’ll need to figure out which hand you hold your stick in, as this will affect the catchers and blockers you need. Most goalies hold their stick in their right hand, so a regular catch glove and blocker are your go-tos. But if your stick feels more comfortable in your left hand, you’ll need a full right blocker and catcher.

When you try on those catch gloves and blockers, make sure they snug up to your hands but aren’t too tight, with your fingers sitting comfortably in the finger stalls.

Warrior Goalie Leg Pads

Your leg pads are a total game-changer for how you drop into that butterfly position and perform in the crease, so it’s crucial that they fit perfectly. Warrior has a great range of goalie leg pads that are designed for every playstyle out there!

Measuring For Goalie Leg Pads From Warrior

To get that perfect leg pad measurement for Warrior, all you need to do is slightly bend your knees and measure from your ankle to the centre of your kneecap. Then, take that measurement and your height and compare it to the size chart below to find your size.

Getting that perfect fit for your playstyle is super important, and that includes your leg pads. If you don’t want to leave the sizing up to chance, swing by our shop at Willies in Coventry and meet our goalie expert and shop manager, Jonathan. He’s a pro at getting goalies geared up right!

When you’re trying on your leg pads, pay attention to your knees — they should fit comfortably in the knee cradle. The straps should fit snugly, too, as you want to feel supported but not like your leg pads are getting in the way of you dropping into that butterfly position.
