Attaching to your leg pads and looping underneath the boot of your skate, an ice hockey goalie’s bootstraps are designed to keep your leg pads on top of your skates. Particularly suited to goalies that like to use the butterfly position, bootstraps keep the pad from rotating too far around your leg, so you don’t have any gaps in protection or holes in your defence.
You can also position your bootstrap in different areas to adjust the height of your leg pads. Simply loop your bootstrap under your skate to stop your thigh rise from coming up too high, or loop around the back of your skate (in a Lundy Loop) to lift the pad.
